Payroll System Changes

Changes to the Payroll System for the January 2010 RG1 pay cycle:  

Retirement Plan Addition – Roth 403(b)

The Regents amended the WSU Retirement Plan effective January 1, 2010, to allow eligible employees the option to contribute to a post tax retirement fund called Roth 403(b).  Gross-to-Net number 176 has been added to the Payroll System in order to support this activity.  Extensive modification to the Payroll System was made in order to accommodate this new employee benefit.  In addition to establishing this new deduction, a new remittance file will be implemented to report payroll deduction and contribution activity to TIAA-CREF using a secured web site.  Employees who enroll in Roth 403(b) may view the deduction on their earnings statement and on-line at WEB PBS under TIAA Contribution Activity.


New Medical Aid Rates

The Department of Labor and Industries has changed the rate of payroll deduction from .07505 to .08390 and changed the contribution rate from .15835 to .17080 effective January 1, 2010.  The minimum monthly deduction for an employee who works 160 hours in the month has changed from $25.34 to $27.33.


Federal Health Insurance Rates

New premiums have been updated and 2 plans have been consolidated.


Qualified Tuition Reductions

One-ninth the semester value for Qualified Tuition Reductions (QTR’S) has been processed this pay cycle.  The full value is $3,731.00 divided by 9 = $414.56 per pay cycle.  QTR’s cannot be charged to State funds.  QTR’s are contributions pay by the department.  The cost of the QTR is shown in the contributions portion of the QPREXP conversation in HEPPS Inquiry.  313 QTR’s were processed.


Graduate Health Insurance

One-ninth the semester value for Graduate Health Insurance (GTN 251) has been processed this pay cycle.  Like QTR’s the contribution to Graduate Health is shown in the contributions portion of the QPREXP conversation of HEPPS Inquiry.  The full value is $728.00 divided by 9 = $80.89 per pay cycle.  1,391 Graduate Health transactions was processed for graduate assistantships on 50% or greater appointment.

Spring Work Study Limits

The 2010 Spring Semester Work Study limits from Financial Aid have been updated in the Payroll System affecting 1,100 students.


2009 W-2 Forms and 1099R Forms

IT has completed the printing of the W-2 Forms and Mailing Services should have them in the mail the week of January 22nd.  The on-line version of the W-2 form was made available January 13, 2010.


Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA)

The dues for WSNA GTN 164 have changed effective January 1, 2010.
