Monitoring Hours for Non-Student Employees
These are the rules prior to January 1, 2010

The monitoring of hours for non-student employees began January 1999 for state health benefits. The monitoring criteria states:
“A non-student employee must work six (6) consecutive months at half-time or greater.”
Listed below are suggested procedures to assist you in the monitoring of hours for non-student employees:
- Go to HEPPS Inquiry and log into QPREXP
- Key in the non-student employee’s SSN and “search from” date.
- To display hours worked since January 1999, enter 010199 in “search from” area.
- Record the number of hours worked per pay cycle on the appropriate worksheet below.
- Compare the actual monthly hours worked to the monthly total half-time hours which represents the minimum hours worked in order to be eligible for medical coverage.
- Determine if the employee has six (6) consecutive months of half-time or more.
