  1. Non-student temporary employees are limited to 1,050 hours of employment in any twelve (12) consecutive month period (WAC 251-01-415). Refer to BPPM 60.26.

If non-student employee has worked 70 or more hours for any five months in the past twelve calendar months, the employee’s pay is eligible for Department of Retirement PERS (or in rare cases, TRS) coverage effective the beginning of the sixth month. There is no offsetting allocation from the benefits pool – the department pays the employer cost.

  3. If a non-student employee has worked six consecutive months at half-time or greater, the employee’s pay is eligible for employer-paid state health benefits the beginning of the seventh month. There is no off-setting allocation from the benefits pool – the department pays the employer cost.
